2018 American Mosaic Summit: Boston
March 13 – 18, 2018
Proposal DEADLINE September 15, 2017
2018 Presentation Program
Each year, hundreds of SAMA members benefit from incredible presentations by both nationally known and international guests, such as Emma Biggs, Toyoharu Kii, Pamela Irving, Helen Bodycomb, James Hubbell, Lucio Orsoni, Marco Bravura, Ilana Shafir, Sonia King, Karen Ami, Sherri Warner Hunter, Laurel True, Rachel Sager, Izaiah Zagar, Lillian Sizemore, Jo Braun, Carrie Reichardt, Antonella Gallenda, Guilio Mennosi, Verdiano Marzi and Bernice Steinbaum. Every year, SAMA strives to enhance the level of program excellence for its members. We are looking for program presenters and workshop instructors who are dedicated to educating, inspiring and promoting excellence in mosaic arts.
We plan for up to nine presentations/ panel discussions to the full group of registered attendees to occur in the evening of Wednesday, March 14, 2018 and throughout the day on Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17, 2018. Presentations and panel discussions are typically 40-50 minutes in length. Attendees represent an active and enthusiastic segment of our membership whose experience with mosaic art spans from enthusiasts and beginners to established business owners and mosaic masters. The goal of the program is to provide attendees with knowledge and inspiration that is not readily available to them in their region and that helps them reach their individual goals toward excellence in mosaic arts.
Invited Presenters are offered a modest honorarium and given one complimentary conference registration in gratitude for participating in our Conference.
Due to growing concerns over the difficulties experienced by our Instructor/Presenters traveling from outside the US to travel into the country to contribute to our conference program, SAMA will work to submit and comply with the nonimmigrant worker petition process so our Instructor/Presenters can obtain nonimmigrant work VISAs for their time contributing content for our conference. This will apply for Workshop Instructors and Presenters only. Mosaic Arts International Artists who are not also instructors or presenters for the conference are not required to travel to the US to exhibit their work and will not qualify under the classification of the petition we are submitting. We are currently finalizing our process as directed by our immigration attorney consultant and will publish the process in the coming week. So that we are ahead of our target filing dates, we ask that all instructors planning to submit proposals email Dawnmarie Zimmerman as soon as possible, informing her of your intent to submit a proposal, so we can get a head start on the petition application.
