12 lucky people willcCreate beautiful works of mosaic art on recycled windows in this unique workshop taught by renowned Austin mosaic artist Dianne Sonnenberg. For those who love Wabi-Sabi ( a Japanese perspective of beauty that is "imperfect or incomplete"), this is a lovely way to create a recycled masterpiece with a colorful mosaic on glass. This technique is extremely versatile and allows for individual creativity. Even if you don't think you're particularly creative, you will be surprised and delighted by the results.
Your course will include mosaic instruction in cutting glass, working with 3 different glass-on -glass adhesives, how to best work with repurposed substrates, design and color, choosing materials, layout/Andamento, and grouting.
Dianne Sonnenberg is an experienced instructor and professional mosaic artist. She will guide you through the process from the beginning to the end, with multimedia presentations and plenty of hands-on learning. This is a class for many skill levels. with a very impressive project!! You will leave the class with a beautiful work of mosaic art, and the knowledge, experience and ability to create additional glass on glass mosaics of your own.
We will provide all the materials: a recycled window pane substrate, stained glass and glass nuggets, adhesive and grout. Participants are encouraged to create their own designs (individual instruction is provided prior to the workshop) but patterns will be available if desired. Prior mosaic experience is required
