CALL FOR TOPICS 2010!

The 9th Annual SAMA Conference Planning Committee is now accepting proposals for Presentations, Panel Discussions and Workshops to round out another incredibly enriching program.

Presentations and Panel Discussions

Each year, over 300 SAMA members benefit from incredible presentations by both nationally known and international guests, like Helen Bodycomb, James Hubbell, Lucio Orsoni, Marco Bravura, Ilana Shafir, Sonia King, Sherri Warner Hunter and Martin Cheek.  Every year, SAMA strives to raise the level of program excellence for its members.  We are looking for program presenters and workshop instructors who are dedicated to educating, inspiring and promoting excellence in mosaic fine art.

The up to 6 presentations which will occur on Friday and Saturday are attended by the full group of registered attendees and are typically 45-60 minutes in length.  These attendees represent an active and enthusiastic segment of our membership whose experiences with mosaic art span from enthusiasts and beginners to established business owners and mosaic masters.  The goal of our programming is to provide attendees with knowledge and inspiration that is not readily available to them in their region and helps them reach their individual goals toward excellence in mosaic fine art.

This year we are also adding 4 additional opportunities for shorter format presentations to occur one evening.  The Professional Seminar evening will be for technically specific discussions, artist issues or focus group type discussions in a 30 minute format.

Workshops

Each year, SAMA has increased the number of workshop offerings to accommodate the incredible desire of its members to get their hands on materials and create a new chapter in their mosaic education.

In San Diego, CA in March of 2009, over 300 Conference Attendees participated in the workshop program.  SAMA members work the website’s shopping cart overtime when the registration period for workshops opens each Winter.  If you are an experienced instructor that would like to touch the lives of the most enthusiastic mosaicists in the world, than we invite you to present a proposal.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the 2010 Workshop Program will focus on the Professional Development and Technical Development of its members.  Proposals for 2 hour & 4 hour (half day) workshops and 7 hour (full day) workshops will be accepted.  Workshops will be classified as “Hands On” – are described as technical or material centered wherein the participants do manipulate materials and create a project or practice a technique or “Demo/Lecture” – are  described as informational or discussion centered wherein the participants will not manipulate materials but participate in a discussion of the topic.  This would include demonstration presentations.
