“RBG”, 2021, 6″ x 6″, glass tile
Art to me is always a reminder. A reminder of a feeling, of a moment, of something I do not want to forget. It could be the smell of a garden, the peace felt by water or the strength that comes from a quiet walk.
RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsburg) is an example. She was taken from a picture of a mural in NYC. To me, she reminds me of the pride I feel when I stand strong for what I believe in. She is a reminder of our inherent strength and need for equality.
As the small fragments of glass combine to create her, I relish how the finished product is far more than the sum of its parts, just like the movement for equality carries its own strength beyond each action.
