“Expecting”, 2021, 6″ x 6″, smalti, stained glass
Each year the male wren constructs a nest inside a bird house in our backyard If a female approves of his nest, they mate and she begins the motherhood process. The male brings her food during he incubation period. Once in awhile the mother-to-be peers out into the world while she awaits the arrival of her young. This mosaic captures on of those moments, and is one of many “wild” moments we enjoy in our backyard wildlife habitat through the seasons.
