“Seen in Glass”, 2021, 6″ x 6″, glass from various sources including beach glass and transparent smalti, found objects, mirror
I have been a mosaic artist for 20 years with a focus on the picassiette style of art. I have always been fascinated by the use of translucent material mounted on mirror, creating a luminous effect as the incoming light hits the mirror. Using this method with the texture and translucent nature of the tesserae creates an image that appears to be made with glowing pieces of glass. I see it as a small landscape with sun, sky, mountains and vegetation; and water, surf and beach in the foreground.
