Color Theory in Contemporary Mosaic with Marzia Truant
Session 7: Thursday, May 14, 2020
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Price: $155 (Includes $10 materials fee)
The color theory applied to mosaic art is particularly important for mosaic artists who are always in search of new approaches to their composition and color and have intrinsic features that cannot be ignored. In this seminar we will approach the systems to “construct color”, we will introduce the color synthesis, additive and subtractive, the primary colors related to them and which system fits mosaic art and what aspects we need to keep in mind. We will talk about palette, combination, matching of colors, a mix of color, harmonies, and contrast. Students will learn why and how to identify the colors that when mixed and viewed from a distance, create a single chromatic result. The color in mosaic art will be deeply explored, supported by a PowerPoint presentation and images. The speech will be open to any questions. This session should particularly benefit those who want to master color in mosaic art and it is dedicated to intermediate and advanced mosaic artists.
Marzia Truant, Mosaic artist, Master of Mosaic graduated from “Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli” in Spilimbergo (Italy), Teacher of color theory and other topics related to mosaic. Since 2005 I dedicate myself to research, design and realization of mosaic artworks. I’m an expert teacher of color theory applied to contemporary mosaic. I investigate the relationships between different materials nature, especially their interaction with light, the aesthetics and conceptual possibilities that are delineated through the knowledge of possible combination of colors and materials. I’m trying to explore the possibility of expanding the traditional boundaries of my art, to investigate the expressive possibilities of mosaic in an artistic key. My works found their way of contemporary mosaic into private collections, public installations, and design fashion objects. www.musirama.it
