SOLD OUT – Exploring Abstract Color & Texture! with Kathy Thaden
Friday, February 5, 2021, 11:00am – 8:00pm
Inspiration can be found all around us… With focus on design elements such as Line, Pattern, Shape, Value, Texture, Space and more, you will explore ‘seeing’ an abstract composition by choosing from various images provided. By deconstructing your image into something new you will then nail down your abstract composition. Working in a limited color palette, you will delve into adding texture, depth and dimension to create your monochromatic mosaic, including a splash of color for a possible focal point. This session will help you to stretch your creativity while responding to a variety of materials to give voice and texture to your design.

Seeking something more tactile she was drawn to contemporary mosaics 17 years ago, finding her way back to fine art. Kathy is the founder and former President of Colorado Mosaic Artists in addition to a Professional Member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists. “As a mosaic artist, I treasure glass and stone scraps or discarded items from our ‘throw-away’ consumer culture. It is important to me that nothing be wasted, finding beauty in what was once broken.” thadenmosaics.com
