Broken down into small groups, tour the expansive Pilkington Plant and their Float Glass Line just outside of Toledo where ribbons of glass in a variety of styles come rolling down on a bed of molten tin. This fascinating process and the many, many products it creates are integral to architectural design and installations. Pilkington is not just a leader in current primary and secondary glazing supplies, they are also a leader in research and development, constantly searching for new solutions that solve issues for architectural, industrial and artistic problems. Their partnership with Toledo’s Art Commission is a collaboration of industry, design, and art inspired by the studio glass movement and the experimental glass workshops held in Toledo, OH in 1962. Safety Requirements
- Complete questionnaire at Main Gate, prior to entry into Plant
- Wear facial covering – still required
- Hair must be above the collar while on tour
- No hooped jewelry or rings while on tour
- Slacks only – no dresses/skirts/shorts
- No high heels, must be closed toe – we much prefer safety shoes
- No ties or loose fitting clothing
- High visibility vest, cuffs, and safety glasses will be provided.
