Mosaic Arts International 2025
Timeless Mosaics
Society of American Mosaic Artists
Annual International Juried Member Exhibition
The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens, August 26 – December 7, 2025
633 Osceola Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32789, (407) 636-9232
The exhibition series will comprise two segments: Fine Art and Site-Specific & Architectural Art. The collection elevates new perspectives of mosaic and architectural art in numerous contexts. It celebrates established and emerging artists working in this traditional medium today. All segments combined include work from an international group of 47 artists representing the US, Canada, Australia, and Puerto Rico.
The exhibition was juried by a distinguished panel including Tamie Diener-Lafferty, Curator of the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, and Ahmed Ibrahim, a mosaic artist since 2000 and winner of the 14th International Mosaic Meeting in Chartres, France. Over several days, they selected 46 works for inclusion in the Fine Art, Site-Specific, and Architectural Art segments.
The jurors were also entrusted with selecting five awards from the work selected for the exhibition.
Tamie Diener-Lafferty commented, “With over 20 years’ experience curating art exhibitions, entering the world of mosaics was a novel and extraordinary experience. The intricate technical skills, dedication, time, and resolve required to create mosaic artworks are truly impressive. While viewing the works and artist statements, I was struck by the privilege of having a glimpse into each artist’s creative process. I commend and thank each artist who submitted their works.” She noted, “Given the abundance of exceptional submissions showcasing high levels of technical skill and originality, the selection process proved to be quite challenging. It is my hope the chosen pieces reflect the talent and diverse work of SAMA members.”
Ahmed Ibrahim was moved and inspired by the experience, “The diversity of submissions reflected not only the rich traditions of the mosaic art form, but also its ever-evolving nature and capacity for innovation. From classical techniques to experimental approaches, the works presented a wide spectrum of materials, concepts, and personal expression.
As a juror, I was deeply moved by the technical mastery, intentionality, and emotional resonance evident in so many of the pieces. The selection process was both inspiring and challenging due to the high caliber of work submitted. Ultimately, the chosen works represent a dynamic cross-section of mosaic art today one that honors its historical foundations while boldly exploring new directions.”
The exhibition will feature work by Mr. Ibrahim as an invitational participant.
SAMA is proud to announce the following awardees and congratulate them on this incredible achievement.
