2027 CONFERENCE | General Info | Call for Topics

2027 American Mosaic Summit: Greater Dallas
March 3 – 7, 2027

Proposal DEADLINE July 31, 2026

2027 Presentation Program Proposals

Since 2002, SAMA members have been inspired by incredible presentations from our esteemed internationally celebrated guests, such as Emma Biggs, Toyoharu Kii, Pamela Irving, Gary Drostle, Helen Bodycomb, James Hubbell, Lucio Orsoni, Marco Bravura, Ilana Shafir, Sonia King, Karen Ami, Sherri Warner Hunter, Sophie Drouin, Laurel True, Rachel Sager, Kim Emerson, Isaiah Zagar, Lillian Sizemore, Carrie Reichardt, Antonella Gallenda, Giulio Menossi, Verdiano Marzi, and Bernice Steinbaum. Every year, SAMA strives to enhance the level of program excellence for its members. We are looking for program presenters and workshop instructors who are dedicated to educating, inspiring, and promoting excellence in mosaic arts.

The 2027 American Mosaic Summit: Greater Dallas will be a three-day event.  We plan for between 3-4 short  presentations/ panel discussions to the full group of registered attendees to occur the evening of Thursday, March 4, 2027 for our SAMA Cafe evening.     Presentations and panel discussions will be between 20-30 minutes in length.  Attendees represent an active and enthusiastic segment of our membership whose experience with mosaic art spans from enthusiasts and beginners to established business owners and mosaic masters. The goal of the program is to provide attendees with knowledge and inspiration that is not readily available to them in their region and that helps them reach their individual goals toward excellence in mosaic arts.

Terms:

Invited Presenters are offered a modest honorarium and given one complimentary conference registration in gratitude for participating in our Conference.

Presentation Proposals are Due July 31, 2026. SAMA's Executive Committee will review the proposals, and notifications will be returned by August 15, 2026.

We recommend the preparation of the requested information BEFORE attempting to complete the form for submission.  We recommend writing the text area in advance and copy/pasting entries in the form at the time of submission.

2027 Education Program Proposals – Workshops / Seminars

The Education Program is noted as the main reason members choose to attend our conference! If you are an experienced instructor who would like to touch the lives of the world’s most enthusiastic mosaicists, we invite you to submit a course proposal.

Wednesday, March 3 thru Friday, March 5, 2027, the Conference Education Program will focus on the Professional, Artistic, and Technical Development of our members. Proposals for 2-hour seminars, 4-hour (half-day) workshops, 8-hour (full-day) workshops, and 16-hour (2-day) workshops will be accepted. Workshops will be classified as “Hands-On” – are described as technical or material-centered centered wherein the participants do manipulate materials and create a project or practice a technique.  Seminars or “Demo/Lecture” are described as informational or discussion-centered, wherein participants will not manipulate materials but will participate in a discussion of the topic. This would include demonstration presentations.

Due to the time constraints of our program, we ask that potential instructors keep the time frame in mind when composing their course content.  SAMA and our member attendees do not expect a week’s worth of content to be squeezed into one day. We do, however, expect that all attendees walk away from the courses with ample understanding of your subject, reference material, and/or tactical experience with a method and enough inspiration to continue further study and work on the subject.

Terms:

Course compensation is set by SAMA and scaled by course length, instructor experience, and prior demand.  Workshop registration fees for courses are split 40% instructor/ 60% SAMA. Any Materials Fees will be established and reimbursed separately.  Prior attendee evaluations of courses are considered during the selection process.

Education Program Proposals are Due July 31, 2026. SAMA's Executive Committee will review the proposals, and notifications will be returned by August 15, 2026.

We recommend the preparation of the requested information BEFORE attempting to complete the form for submission.  We recommend writing the text area in advance and copy/pasting entries in the form at the time of submission.
