Thursday, September 19, 2024, 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Workshop: Hands-On
All Levels: Technical Development
$210 (includes $35 materials fee)
Architectural Mosaics is a comprehensive workshop designed to equip students with the fundamental skills necessary to create beautiful and long-lasting large scale installations. We will begin our workshop by looking at a number of glass and ceramic mosaics in both interior and exterior settings. Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, participants will learn about design, tile selection, adhesives and assembly of artwork. We will also cover various direct and indirect methods as well as best practices for successful execution. In the hands on portion of this class, we will be provided with ceramic tiles and create a mesh mounted mosaic that can be installed at a later date.
When working outdoors there are a number of considerations to insure mosaics durability and longevity. We will take extra care to discuss how to approach these projects.
By the end of our workshop, students will have the knowledge and confidence to embark on their own architectural mosaic project at home or in their communities.
This session will be useful to both hobbyists and professionals looking to expand on their expertise.
