REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

One of SAMA’s most impactful programs for members is returning for its seventh season this year as part of a multi-organizational collaborative celebration of contemporary art!

For over 10 years, The One Hundred Moments Project has been a captivating, non-juried collection of work representing the full spectrum of SAMA’s diverse membership.   This program has been featured at SAMA events in Chicago, Boston, Nashville, Greater Detroit, Kansas City, and Orlando. This year, it will return as a multimedia event featuring work by members of our Partners in the Arts, The Stained Glass Association of America, The Glass Art Society, and the International Society of Glass Bead Makers.

For 2026, the rolling exhibit will travel to Corning, New York, to be featured at the world-renowned Rakow Library at the Corning Museum of Glass, May 9 – June 7, 2026, and then onto a new annex of the Pittsburgh Glass Center, the Pittsburgh Glass Corner Gallery, June 26 – September 25, 2026. The collection will be on view for over 5 Months and will be complemented by a renewal of the 100 Moments Online Gallery.

We are inviting SAMA, SGAA, GAS, and ISGB Members to create a 6” x 6” work from one of two project frame kit options:

  • The Mosaic Panel Kit will include one 6″ x 6″ EZframe with substrate and hanging hardware.
  • The Glass Panel Kit will include pre-cut zinc framing and hanging hardware for a 6” x 6” soldered square and template.

We are not limiting the number of participants, but we will restrict each artist to one panel.  Participation is exclusive to all active SAMA, SGAA, GAS, and ISGB Members.

The Online Gallery will feature each work and offer artists the opportunity to sell their work directly from the project website managed by SAMA.

Theme, materials, and construction method of the 6” x 6” panels must be appropriate for viewing by school-age children and a General Audience. The collection will be displayed at high-traffic venues. It will be viewed by a wide array of people in cultural, artistic, and educational contexts. This is our special opportunity to educate, inspire, and promote excellence in mosaics while partnering with artists from SGAA, GAS, and ISGB to expand the breadth of understanding and appreciation of mosaic and glass arts to enthusiastic audiences. Let’s put our BEST on display!

Overtly offensive or explicitly themed work may be pulled at SAMA/SGAA and/or the venue’s discretion.

ALL ARTISTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Order Project Kit!

Mosaic Kit and Entry Guidelines

The mosaic can be made from any materials and executed in flat, sculptural, or bas-relief forms; however, it should not exceed 1 inch beyond the 6″ x 6″ frame’s edge, and no alterations to the hanging hardware should occur. The substrate should be fully utilized with no bare substrate viewable unless otherwise intended by the design. Protrusions beyond one inch, and off-center or diagonal hanging alterations will result in the work being returned to the artist prior to installation.

Indicate “Mosaic Frame Kit” type on the order form below. Frame kits will be shipped within 5 days of payment receipt.

When your Mosaic Kit Arrives

Open your Priority Mailbox with care so you can reuse it to ship to SAMA for installation.

Most importantly… You need to ASSEMBLE YOUR KIT BEFORE you start to Mosaic!  You will damage your mosaic if you try to assemble the hardware after the work is completed.

The D-Ring Hanger must be attached to the center hole in the aluminum frame.  It is essential that everyone’s D-Ring be in the same position on the frame to aid in speedy installation!  We have limited time for installation, so this will ensure the process is mathematically accurate for hanging!

YOU WILL ONLY HAVE 3 Nuts and 3 Screws!  The instructions provided apply to all EZ Frame sizes.  The 6″ x 6″ frames only require 2 corners and the center D-Ring for hanging.

Please read the packing and return shipping instructions provided in the kit carefully. Further Questions can be emailed to SAMA Exec. Director, Dawnmarie Zimmerman

Stained Glass Kit and Entry Guidelines

Included will be a printed template with 6” x6” square guides. All Stained Glass Panels will be installed with back lighting.  Artists are not required to provide lighting fixtures.

Panels can be made of any materials appropriate for leaded or copper foil glass panel construction. Panels will need to be constructed within the 6” x 6” template guidelines, and hangers will need to be affixed in the indicated placements per the template. Your work must integrate cleanly with the groove and function fully in that space. There should be no light bleeds, whether the work is framed or unframed. Protrusions beyond one inch, and off-center or diagonal hanging alterations will result in the work being returned to the artist prior to installation.

Indicate “Stained Glass Frame Kit” type on the order form below. Frame kits will be shipped within 5 days of payment receipt.

When your Glass Panel Kit Arrives:

  • Open your Priority Mailbox with care so that you can reuse it to ship to SAMA for installation.
  • A template guide will be included in your box with the zinc framing and hanging hardware to ensure that all stained glass panels are fabricated to fit our lighting and installation specifications.

Notes for GAS and ISGB Members

A Special Welcome to Our GAS and ISGB Community Partners!

This season, the 100 Moments Project is expanding its invitation beyond SAMA and SGAA members to include our friends from the Glass Art Society and the International Society of Glass Beadmakers. In the spirit of our partnership at the 2026 GAS Conference in Corning, we want this collection to reflect the full, extraordinary breadth of what the glass arts community creates.

You don’t need to be a traditional stained glass or mosaic artist to participate. Think of the two kits this way: the Mosaic Frame Kit is a mounted display frame for adhered, wall-hung work, and the Stained Glass Panel Kit is a backlit light box with a slotted groove designed for translucent work to slide into. What you make within those formats is where your creativity takes over.

A few things that are non-negotiable, regardless of your medium:

  • Mosaic Kit: The substrate should be fully utilized with no bare substrate viewable unless otherwise intended by the design. The substrate must be properly mounted in the frame and not protrude outside the 6”x6” edges of the frame.
  • Stained Glass/Backlit Kit: Your work must integrate cleanly with the groove and function fully in that space. There should be no light bleeds, whether the work is framed or unframed.

Beyond that? We welcome everything you bring. This project exists to show the public what this community is truly capable of, and the myth that glass and mosaic are dying crafts ends right here, in this collection. Whether you’ve been working in glass for forty years or four months, your moment belongs in this exhibition.

Exclusive Webinar for Project Participants

All 100 Moments Project participants will be invited to an exclusive webinar designed to enrich and strengthen your creative business!

Designing a Sustainable Studio: A Business Model Canvas for Stained Glass & Mosaic Artists with Jill Huentelman

Running a stained glass or mosaic studio often means balancing commissions, teaching, creative exploration, and the realities of making a living. In this session, strategist and studio owner Jill Huentelman will introduce the Business Model Canvas — a simple, visual framework that helps artists see how all the pieces of their practice fit together.

Participants will learn the 9 essential building blocks of a sustainable creative business, explore real-world studio examples, and leave with new clarity about where their time, energy, and income can align. Whether you’re a solo artist, a small shop, or just beginning to shape your path, this session will help you think more intentionally about how your art supports your goals.

Jill Huentelman is the founder of Lernia Training Solutions, an educational company for 20+ years. Jill enjoys partnering with CEOs, entrepreneurs, and other C-level executives to help create and grow more sustainable, valuable, and profitable companies. Jill is a life-long entrepreneur who grew Lernia to 25 people and was recognized as one of the Top 100 fastest growing, privately held companies in the Philadelphia area (2010 / 2011). Jill is certified as a Scaling Up coach and currently serves as a strategic coach for small and mid-sized businesses seeking to grow. Jill is also a stained-glass artist and is able to spend 2-3 days a week at her stained glass studio.
