Thursday, September 19, 2024, 8:00am – 12:00pm
Workshop: Hands-On
Beginner/Intermediate: Technical Development
Price: $205 (Includes $30 Materials Fee)
Join Carrie for a fast paced and exciting all half day class that explores the art of making and installing mosaics as street art! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist looking to explore a new technique, this course is designed to provide you with the fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to create stunning mosaic pieces that can be installed in public spaces.
Learn to cut free form shapes with mosaic nippers and cutting tools, placing tesserae quickly without the need to cut each one to fit; how to prepare a mosaic for an instant and spontaneous installation or to be used in advance as a “tile” or focal point in a larger mosaic design
By the end of the class, you will have gained a solid foundation in the art of making and installing small mosaic artworks for guerrilla installations or for inclusion into community mosaics. You will leave the course with your own completed mosaic artwork, ready to be integrated into urban spaces and contribute to the vibrant world of graffiti art.
Note: All necessary materials will be provided during the class, but participants are encouraged to bring any tiles, beads or cabochons for incorporation into your mosaic.
