CANCELLED – Indirect Method on Sticky Mesh – All You Need to Know! with Cynthia Fisher

Saturday, September 25, 2021
11:00am – 5:00pm EDT
Hands-On/Make-Along
$349 (includes LIVE Fall Artist Gathering Registration and Materials)

The indirect method is an indispensable technique for mosaic artists. In this workshop I will start from the beginning and cover all aspects of working indirect with a focus on my favorite method working on sticky mesh. I will provide a digital hand-out jam-packed with pointers that will be a future guide to working on your own. Students will use their preferred materials and virtually work alongside me while we mix thin-set, use our trowels and learn how to lay the perfect bed of thin-set. Problem solving will be emphasized and questions encouraged. Gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to add this fabulous way of working in the medium of mosaic.

Cynthia Fisher has been a professional artist for over 30 years with a focus on mosaics since 2000. Her art career began as an editorial and children’s book illustrator, metamorphosing to full time mosaic artist over several years. At Big Bang Mosaics studio in rural western Massachusetts she creates installations for public, residential, and corporate settings nationwide.  Her diverse body of work ranges from illustrative to painterly to non-representational. Her public art mosaics can be seen in a wide variety of settings, from hospital walls to town centers, performing arts centers, museums, community splash pads and fountains to name a few. These mosaics are large, colorful and full of movement and energy. She handles all aspects of their creation, from sketching to mosaic fabrication and installation. Public art is her main occupational focus.  BigBangMosaics.com
