John Sollinger (Solly)
Making & Modifying before Flippin' Unglued
March 20-22, 2020
Join Solly in this 3-day workshop where you will be expected to step outside your comfort zone by exploring Solly’s ways of working, from choosing images to laying glass pieces, before employing his signature double reverse technique, whereby the mosaic pieces are placed dry onto an underlying image, flipped over, adhered to its substrate, and then flipped back to its original orientation. Solly will share how he chooses and image, and time will be set side during lunch or other breaks to practice his techniques to experience no stakes mistakes. As time allows, Solly would entertain discussions on achieving realism. Students will make a 12 x 12 stained glass-on-glass mosaic wall-hanging suitable for indoors. There will be a choice of three images to render into a mosaic. Non-beginners are encouraged to bring their own photos of size no larger than 9.25 inches in either direction.
