From Concept to Completion: Exploring the Creative Process with Dianne Sonnenberg
Friday, February 5, 2021
11:00 am – 8:00 pm EST
Workshop: Hands-On/Make Along
All Levels
Price: $360 (includes $65 materials fee)
Do you want to become comfortable creating your own original designs? Do you yearn to find your voice as an artist and convey your unique point of view? Do you need a fresh start? How do you take a vague concept and create a meaningful work of mosaic art?
In this workshop, Dianne will guide you through the creative process, and help you discover your inspiration, style, and passion. You will discover your innate ability to find your vision and trust your imagination.
This session should particularly benefit those who want to create original work, discover and/or develop their individual styles, and grow as artists. Participants will gain tools to facilitate their ability to BE creative and original. We will address overcoming fear, identifying limits and/or what holds you back, and techniques to move beyond these barriers. Many of us have trouble finishing a mosaic when we become “stuck”. We will explore ways to figure out why this happens, and what to do about it!
Through a series of exercises, discussions, slideshows, and hands-on projects, we will learn techniques to develop our artistic skills, move beyond the things that stop and hinder us, and find (and/or develop) our own unique voices as individual mosaic artists. Participants will create several small 4”x4” mosaics, begin to develop a sketchbook full of ideas, notes, and inspiration, and a useful workbook to guide you through your continuing artistic development.
This workshop will be challenging, but also supportive and inspiring. You may find yourself going beyond your comfort zone, but you will find that the more energy you can devote to the concepts you learn, the more value you will get out of it, exponentially! The process and goals will be different for each of us, but when we are on the journey together, it can often yield more powerful and unexpected results.
Included in the materials fee, Dianne will provide substrates, some tesserae (including smalti, 24K gold, and millefiori), adhesives, particular supplies, and an extensive workbook in a 3-ring binder. Flat-rate shipping within the continental US is included. International shipping is extra, based on current rates.
Dianne will provide a list of supplies, tools, and materials to have on hand at home for the workshop.
