Pictor Imaginarius: INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION at Museo di Fiume, Nazzano, Italy, curated by Alessandro Lugari, Curatore del settore Arti Musive del Museo del Fiume
The exhibition runs May 25-26, 2013, with a full catalog available for purchase at the Museo di Fiume.
A selection of sixty works from around the world is an exhibition that, although in different cultural and geographical experiences, the strength and vitality of the mosaic are always open to new experiments which demonstrate the desire and the intent to convey emotion and sensation. The participants were selected in two categories, emerging and professional, and they come from all over the Italian territory, from countries in and outside Europe (Canada, USA, Brazil, Africa, Russia, Ukraine ….). Invited artists include SAMA members Karen Ami (Illinois), Sue Giannotti (Missouri), and Matteo Randi (Illinois & Ravenna). All of the participating artists are representatives of different schools of traditional mosaic art. The exhibition is being held in the medieval village of Nazzano, just to the north of Roma, at the Museo di Fiume. The composition of the jury will be seeking the same formula adopted in previous editions, with two great artists working in the field of mosaic for many decades: the first, Professor Luciana Notturni, , the second, Professor Enzo Tinorelli, a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. The jury will also consist of a successful architect, Charles Celia, art historian, Silvia Sordini , and President of the Sabinarte, Dr Luisa Decorti, established artist and designer of the capital.
