Shug Jones writes: I’ve been a member of a small group of mosaic artists who have had an annual exchange for 13 years so I have received some incredible artworks from other members and some as gifts from friends. Others, I have purchased at the SAMA Mosaic Art Salon which is one of my favorite events at the conference. I also have some that are student work from my workshops that were given to me. The majority of my collection reside in my studio, where I spend most of my time and can enjoy them every day. They provide endless inspiration.

My mosaic exchange collection – Top left – “Gyres” by Terry Nichols; Row 2 (top to bottom) – “Untitled” by Irina Charny, “Anemone” by Sarah Zirkel Muyskens, “Painted Ladies” by Lorrie Baudouin; Row 3 – “Full Fathom Five” by Marian Shapiro, “Winter Frost” by Julie Dilling, “Crossing Paths” by Kim Wozniak; Row 4 – “Colorado Colors” by Margi Behrens, “Untitled” by Monique Boncz, “C12 H12 O11” by John O’Brien; Row 5 – “Trapeze Girl” by Mary Ponchio, “Purple Majesties” by Michele Petno, “Sophie” by Jacki Gran.

Row 1- “Self Portrait” by me, “Untitled” by Jacki Gran, “Casey” by me; Row 2 – “Emergence” by me, “Caribbean Cactus” by me, “Untitled” by Jenny Perry; Row 3 – “Gerry Lay” by Tobi Ellis, “Cody” by Lynndehn Carpenter, and “Momma” by me

“Study #2 for Richmond Hill” by me sits on my living room mantle. I actually sold this to a friend and bought it back. My husband is the guy on the left and he was upset to find out that I had sold it.

One of my favorites hangs in my dining room. It is called “St. Shug – Beloved Patron Saint of Peach Cobblers” and was made for me by my dear friend Jenny Perry. It’s a long story.
Editor’s Note: Maybe next blog post Shug will share with us the long story!
