Meet SAMA Member Antonella Sorrentino. She writes: In 2010 I approached the study of the art of mosaic attending the basic and advanced class at the Scuola d’Arte e dei Mestieri di Roma Capitale “Arti Ornamentali”.
In 2011 I created my first original mosaic “Incontro”, 2nd place in the category emerging artists at the Second Edition of the National Competition for Mosaic “L’Arte del Mosaico” Museo del Fiume, Nazzano, Italy.
I am fascinated by the contemporary mosaics and I am consolidating my knowledge in Spilimbergo at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli (weekly courses). I presented my original works in several Collective exhibitions of contemporary art in Italy (Rome) and in International competitions in Italy (Florence, Nazzano) and in France (Prix Picassiette Rencontres Internationales de Chartres – 2012, 2014). I am member of the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists.
Each work rises from a story told by using words made from marbles or enamels. Creating my personal mosaics is the possibility of conceiving absolutely new images.
